The trial for the man accused of killing relatives of singer-actress Jennifer Hudson begins on Monday.

William Balfour faces three counts of first-degree murder. In October 2008, the bodies of Darnell Donerson and Jason Hudson were found shot in their Englewood home. They were the mother and brother of Jennifer Hudson. Days later the body of her seven-year-old nephew Julian King was found in an SUV on Chicago’s West Side.

The trial is expected to last a month at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse at 26th and California. Jennifer Hudson, a Chicago native, is expected to observe in the courtroom daily. Meanwhile, the trial is attracting a lot of national media attention. Because of the case’s high-profile nature, Judge Charles Burns has placed as a gag order on anyone involved in the case.

Balfour is also charged with home invasion, aggravated kidnapping, possession of a stolen vehicle and residential burglary.
