In this post (after the jump): US Census Jobs Professional Development Training Target Electronic Systems Specialist Taste of Chicago Jobs US Census Management Positions The US Department of Commerce, Bureau of Census will be conducting pre-employment tests from May 4th to May 23rd, 2009 at multiple locations throughout Illinois and Indiana. Each Regional Distribution Center services anywhere from 50 — 80 stores. Our distribution centers, or DCs, are typically 1.3-1.5 million square feet and have 7-8 miles of conveyor. Each building employs between 700 - 1000 team members and ship 40-50M cartons per year. GROWTH Let’s talk about the growth that we have planned for our distribution centers. We are experiencing a huge amount of growth and we expect this growth to continue well into the future. In the last 5 years, we have doubled in size on the Distribution side of the business. To maintain our high level of service standards, Target Distribution is keeping pace with the opening of new stores by building new distribution centers across the country. Job Descriptions Electronic Systems Specialist As an Electronic Systems Specialist, you’ll oversee the installation, evaluation, operation, maintenance and repair of all electronic equipment used to run our distribution center as efficiently, safely and productively as possible. You’ll help make our distribution center the best in the industry by troubleshooting electronic systems problems, provide training and create an open path of communication between you and the team. You’ll forge relationships with internal clients, and partner with your peers to remove barriers to your facility’s success. WHAT’S COOL ABOUT THIS POSITION: ”¢ Understand, maintain and troubleshoot complex control systems including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks such as Ethernet, control net, device net, motor control systems, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems ”¢ Applying your knowledge of systems and maintenance to keep the distribution center running smoothly ”¢ Evaluating current work methods and finding ways to eliminate inefficiencies ”¢ Diagnosing problems associated with computer peripherals maintenance ”¢ Minimizing downtime by overseeing electronic equipment maintenance contracts, notifying service contractors of necessary repairs and following up to see that repairs are completed ”¢ Completing preventative maintenance and repairs to failed electronic equipment and ensuring all units requiring manufacturer repair are sent, repaired and returned in a timely manner ”¢ Providing training on the proper use of the equipment and basic diagnostic procedures for defining problems Minimum Job Requirements: ”¢ 4-year college degree in Electrical Engineering, a related field or equivalent experience ”¢ Ability to provide off-hours support as required ”¢ Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations with great interpersonal skills ”¢ Experience working in a team-oriented environment ”¢ Strong reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills ”¢ Proven ability to motivate teams and manage conflict ”¢ Basic PC skills ”¢ Ability to access all levels and areas of the facility ”¢ Ability to interpret and understand policies and procedures and relate them to others ”¢ Openness to relocation Do you know someone who wants to work the Taste of Chicago this year?
