Since 2005 Joliet has been trying to take control of Evergreen Terrace, a low income housing complex. That’s set to happen in October. 

Last night, the Joliet City council voted to transfer ownership of Evergreen to a Limited Liability Company called “Riverwalk Homes.” A big reason for that move is to protect the city’s coffers if an Evergreen resident sues. But Joliet mayor Bob O’Dekirk says the attorneys the city has consulted aren’t sure that will work.
