As a national security commentator who appears regularly on Fox News and other TV, online, and radio programs, KT McFarland offers her take on major global news developments and their implications for the U.S.

McFarland will visit Elmhurst College on April 12 to discuss “Democracy and Global Security,” drawing on her years of experience in national security posts in the Nixon, Ford, and Reagan administrations.

Kathleen Troia “KT” McFarland is the host of FOXNews.com’s DEFCON 3, one of the Internet’s most watched national security shows. In addition to her work as a media commentator, she writes a regular column for FOXNews.com.

Educated at Oxford University and MIT, McFarland has served as a deputy defense secretary under President Ronald Reagan, a research assistant to Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, and a member of the National Security Council under Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. She is a recipient of the Defense Department’s highest civilian award, and was a Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate from New York in 2006.

McFarland’s talk is part of the Democracy Forum lecture series at Elmhurst College, a yearlong series of lectures that illuminate the problems and promise of democracy and civic engagement.

Elmhurst College is a leading liberal arts college located eight miles west of Chicago.
