I recently returned from a 10 month journalism fellowship and am serving as Acting Program Director. I am firmly ensconced in the internecine world of public radio programming. It’s wild. It’s crazy. And it’s surprisingly complicated at times. Making changes to a programming schedule‚ is a bit like‚ playing a game of Tetris, doing a puzzle, and plotting a seating arrangement at a wedding reception. Every move begets six other moves, some programs don’t play nice with other programs, and others simply don’t fit the hole that’s available. All‚ of that is prologue as I write to‚ fill you in on‚ some slight changes we’ve had to make to our overnight schedule on Saturdays and Sundays. We’re losing access to CBC’s Definitely Not the Opera and thus need to add a few programs and shuffle a few others to‚ accommodate. The new schedule is now in effect. Full details can be found on our programs page, but I’ve outlined a few of the key changes below: - Filmspotting will move to midnight Sundays (or late night Saturday nights, if you prefer) - World Vision Report will now be only 1hour and will air at 1 a.m. Sundays. - Smart City moves to 4 a.m. Saturdays - PRI’s The Changing World, a weekly companion documentary series to PRI’s The World,‚ will join our line up‚ on‚ Saturday mornings at 5 a.m. As always, we hope‚ to provide‚ the most compelling‚ mix of programs possible, so we’re eager to hear what you think. Take a listen and let us know what you think.
