Latin School Pushed Out Of Soccer Field Deal?
The Park District had agreed to let the private Latin School build an artificial-turf field in Lincoln Park. In return, Latin School students would get prime access for at least a decade. Well, today board members drafted a proposal to back out and return the school's money; however, the question is, What will happen to the half-finished field? The board hinted it would complete the field - but now, at taxpayers' expense. Critics pleaded that the artificial-turf be ripped out. Here's Thomas Tresser of Protect Our Parks.
TRESSER: The site that you've chosen to continue construction doesn't make sense for this use. So, put the meadow back the way you found it and let's all join hands to find a better solution of soccer in Chicago.
The Chicago Park District board could take a vote on the soccer field's fate later today.
