David Barrera has won several prizes at the Jugend Musiziert competition: in 1995 he was awarded the first prize in the category of solo instrument and in 1997 the third prize in chamber music. In 2007, he won the second prize at the Gradus ad Parnassum competition in Austria in the category of piano trio.  He has made recordings for ORF (Austrian Broadcasting) and TV channels Canal (á) and Film & Arts. In 2006 he recorded as a soloist Fantasía-concierto written by the composer Carlos González for the label Piccolo. He has collaborated on numerous occasions with various orchestras including the Musik Theater Schönbrunn in Vienna, the Real Filharmonía de Galicia, Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife, and Camerata Clásica de Canarias.
