U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski, D-Ill., said he doesn’t expect the president’s 2013 budget to be voted on by Congress.

President Barack Obama presented his budget Monday, proposing to cut the national deficit by $4 trillion over the next decade in part by ending the George W. Bush-era tax cuts and cutting hundreds of billions in defense spending.

Lipinski said Monday he has not looked closely at Obama’s plan, but he expects House Republicans to produce a very different budget proposal.

“The president’s budget is just the first draw in the whole budget battle that occurs every year, and we’ll see where we go from here,” said Lipinski.

U.S. Rep Peter Roskam, R-Ill., and Rep. Don Manzullo, R-Ill., have come out against the president’s proposal. In emailed statements, both congressmen said the budget doesn’t cut the nation’s trillion dollar deficit enough.
