For 20 years, journalist, author and environmentalist Mark Hertsgaard has investigated climate change, but it took the birth of his daughter to bring the truth home. Another revelation came when an expert advised that, without a doubt, global warming had arrived more than 100 years earlier than expected. Mark’s latest book, HOT: Living Through the Next Fifty Years on Earth, grew from a cover story he wrote for Vanity Fair’s first “green” issue in May 2006.

In Hot, Mark writes that the challenge goes beyond halting and reversing global warming: it’s about living through the substantial climate change that is now locked in for the coming decades.
