Some Chicago Public Schools are among the best in the state, but getting into them can be harder than getting into college.  That’s true now more than ever; CPS received a record number of applicants this year for its selective enrollment and magnet schools.

This month, students are finding out whether or not they’ve been accepted to attend a selective enrollment or magnet school in the fall, so it seems like a fitting time to check in Katie Ellis. Ellis is Chicago Public Schools’ executive director of access and enrollment.

Friday on Afternoon Shift, Ms. Ellis and WBEZ education reporter Linda Lutton will be on hand to take your calls and questions about the application process for selective enrollment and magnet schools, as well as the schools themselves. Tune in at 2:00pm, and dial 312-923-9239 to join the discussion.
