Many members of the U.S. Armed Forces celebrated Tuesday.. They weren’t celebrating coming home from a war front but marking their first chance to safely come out on the job. “Don’t ask, don’t tell” – the policy that banned gay men and women from serving openly in the military was over. But while some soldiers looked to a better future, others were still dealing with effects of “don’t ask, don’t tell.” Former marine Marquell Smith was discharged under the policy and he joined Eight Forty-Eight to share his story.
