Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt are the latest to put a friendly wager on Sunday’s NFC championship game between the Bears and Packers.

Daley teamed up with local businesses to offer loads of pizza, pierogis and a five pound corned beef sandwich from Manny’s Deli if the Packers win. If the Bears win, Mayor Schmitt is wagering a 12-pack of local beer, a case of bear steaks, and a autographed Packer football.

To up the ante Schmitt said he will send one pound of cheese to Mayor Daley for each point the Packers win by. But Daley said he doesn’t think the Bears will let him down. “They have been underrated all season,” he said.” But they just kept winning and winning and here they are today.”

Daley said the long-standing rivalry between the two teams is the “greatest rivalry in professional sports,” ever since November 1921 when the Chicago Staleys first beat the Packers.

Any food Daley might win in the wager will be donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
