The Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, commonly known as McPier, currently oversees both McCormick Place and Navy Pier.

But on Wednesday, Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority trustee Jim Reilly announced that Navy Pier would now be managed and run by a new non-profit corporation. Reilly has long advocated for separating the Pier from McCormick Place, including in his report last week to the Illinois General Assembly on McPier’s future. The move is a big deal as Navy Pier is Illinois’ top tourist destination.
