The One-Day Silk Road Festival takes place Thursday night at 7:30pm at Mayne Stage in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood. It’s going to be “an evening’s journey through Arabic, Balkan, French Roma and Celtic music cultures.”

The featured ensembles at the festival are Steve Gibons’ Gypsy Rhythm Project and Bulbul Classical Arabic Ensemble; members of both groups joined us today to perform and talk with Tony Sarabia. They’re Steve Gibons on violin, Nicolae Feraru on cimbalom, Rami Gabriel on lute and Gil Alexander on percussion.
