Chicago-born hip-hop artist, Mic Crenshaw talks with Eight Forty-Eight’s Alison Cuddy about his latest album Under the Sun. The album explores his experiences growing up African American.

Crenshaw also reflects on some troubles he went through. In 2008, he was arrested in Portland for extortion and coercion. Those charges were eventually dismissed. Crenshaw says he ran into trouble in part because he was haunted, unfairly so, by his past.

In part 2 of a conversation that started on Monday, Crenshaw began by reflecting on that past, to his high school years in Minnesota.

Eight Forty-Eight also spoke with authorities in Portland, Oregon, and were able to confirm Crenshaw’s arrest in 2008 on charges of extortion and coercion. Both counts were later dismissed.
