Eight Forty-Eight

Mic Crenshaw trades in fists for words to fight for a better world

Portland, Oregon-based hip-hop artist and social worker Mic Crenshaw’s most recent album is Under the Sun.

The Chicago native has a complex history: He’s been a violent troublemaker and a peace-seeking solution finder. And sometimes he’s been both. Eight Forty-Eight spoke to Mic Crenshaw about his story and began with a look back at his formative years growing up on Chicago's South Side.
