Reconnecting Neighborhoods, a new project that invites residents of three Chicago neighborhoods (Near North, Near West and Mid-South) to participate in planning the future of their communities, hosted three meetings on the Mid-South Side on Feb. 20, Feb. 27 and March 5. Participants provided input that will inform recommendations for improved transit services, retail, and public infrastructure in Mid-South neighborhoods.

Residents and community members from Chicago’s Grand Boulevard, North Kenwood, Douglas, and Oakland neighborhoods were invited to participate in these three community meetings. At each meeting, participants reviewed an inventory report outlining current and project amenities in the Mid-South. They then used keypad polling technology to provide real-time input about how they get around their community, and what improvements they’d like to see to make their neighborhood more convenient and vibrant. Here are the combined polling results of all three meetings on the Mid-South Side. 

Reconnecting Neighborhoods is an ongoing project through 2008, and is being led by the City of Chicago Department of Planning and Development, with support from the Regional Transportation Authority and Metropolitan Planning Council.
