On Monday’s Afternoon Shift, The Break Room features Minneapolis art-rock group Cloud Cult with the song “Running With The Wolves” off their newest album Light Chasers. Frontman Craig Minowa and his band continue to make some of the more eclectic music in indie rock on their ninth album in over fifteen years, mixing a ceremonial jam-band aesthetic with avant-garde features. Well known for their commitment to enviromentalism, Cloud Cult records in a studio powered by geothermal energy on Minowa’s organic farm in Minnesota, creates albums only with recycled materials, and donates all profits to enviromental charities.

The Break Room also features British cult group Cornershop with the song “What Did The Hippie Have In His Bag” off their new album Urban Turban. On their 1997 breakthrough album When I Was Born for the 7th Time, Cornershop mixed traditional Western music styles, such as rock and pop, with Punjabi and dance music from the East. Since then, Cornershop is known for blending music from corners of the mainstream and underground, from both the East and the West, to create pan-global music for indie rockers who not only want to dance, but also want to engage with cultures and music far from their own experience.
