On Monday’s Afternoon Shift, The Break Room features Real Estate with the song “Municipality” off of their album Days. Hailing from Ridgewood, New Jersey, Real Estate has garnered much critical acclaim from the indie community since the release of their 2009 self-titled debut. They’re known for their lush guitar sound and classic melodies rooted in ’80s indie rock bands, like The Feelies and early R.E.M. Real Estate is playing Sunday at Pitchfork Music Festival in Union Park this weekend.

The Break Room also features hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg with his single “Gin and Juice” off of his 1993 debut Doggystyle. Emblematic of the G-funk era of hip-hop, “Gin and Juice” was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance and peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Snoop Dogg is still an active performer after almost 20 years and is set to headline the Osheaga Festival in Montreal, Canada this summer.
