The heat’s here!  Now don’t complain. Part of you was wishing for this when we got that blizzard back in February.

Temperatures today are expected to hover between 96 and 98 degrees in what could be the hottest day of the year so far.

Heating up in court, attorneys will present closing arguments in the terrorism trial of Tahawwur Rana.  Yesterday, Rana’s attorney’s spent less than 90 minutes putting on their defense of the Chicagoan accused of helping terrorists. He did not testify.

Also in the hot seat, prosecutors are set to continue their cross-examination, and near grilling, of former governor Rod Blagojevich.

In Indiana, Medicaid officials are busy working on a new rule defining entities that provide abortions and are not eligible for state funds under a new law. 

The recently enacted Indiana law prevents money going to agencies that perform abortion, including Planned Parenthood.

On the political front, former Minnesota governor and Republican presidential candidate, Tim Pawlenty is in Chicago proposing a simplified tax system that has only three tax rates.
