Illinois Gov. Patrick Quinn remains mum on tollway hikes. “We’re going to let the whole process take forward,” he said yesterday when pressed by reporters. If the plan is passed by the Tollway Board, scheduled for Aug. 24, fare hikes could be between 40-75 cents.

Jerry Stermer, a senior advisor for Quinn, was fined $500 for sending political messages from a state telephone. Stermer self-reported the violation in January last year, resigned as chief of staff in August and was rehired as a senior advisor in December.

Sears Holding Corp. announced a new CEO at its subsidiary Lands’ End Inc. Edgar Huber joins Sears after serving as an executive vice president of global business development at Liz Claiborne Inc.

Leaders at the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago launched several green initiatives on Monday. This follows a resolution legislators adopted a few weeks ago, declaring Ramadan a green month.
