Schaumburg-based Motorola is set to split into two separate entities tomorrow.

Motorola Mobility Holdings will become its own entity while Motorola will be renamed Motorola Solutions. Motorola Mobility Holdings is in charge of mobile and home devices. Motorola Solutions oversees communication equipment for government and industrial customers.

The two companies will begin trading separately on the New York Stock Exchange tomorrow, and that will have an affect on distribution of shares to stockholders.

CEOs of both companies believe the separation will benefit both entities, stockholders, customers and employees.

Motorola announced plans for the split in November.
