Everyone has probably had an experience where they see something at work that just doesn’t seem right. In a situation like this, you generally have three options: keep quiet, quit or speak up and try to right the wrong. But when your work is top secret you’re way more vulnerable because normal legal protections can be overruled in the interests of secrecy. All this week on Worldview, we’re focusing on the people who blow the whistle on waste, fraud and criminality in the secret parts of the Executive Branch. Today we’ll start by looking at the infrastructure of secrecy and the legal doctrine the government can use to keep “National Security Whistleblowers” out of federal court.
