Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel has been busy recently with some major appointments. On Monday, he chose Jean Claude Brizard as CEO of Chicago Public Schools. On Tuesday, Emanuel tapped Forrest Claypool to head the Chicago Transit Authority. The Mayor-elect also named members of his financial team.

Claypool is a longtime Chicago politician with previous experience at the Chicago Park District and the Cook County Board. That experience may prove valuable – he’ll face a broad range of challenges at the transit agency.
