The Auburn Gresham, Englewood and Chicago Lawn neighborhoods are teaming up to revitalize 63rd Street.

The project, called the Southwest Corridor Collaborative, aims to improve the once vibrant retail block with the help of $50 million over the next decade from the Local Initiatives Support Corporation.

“They want job creation in their neighborhoods. They want opportunity for their neighborhood small businesses and their neighborhood residents to access the economy,” said Megan Harte, executive director of the nonprofit.

The first step will be to get community input and create a vision for 63rd Street.
