What do you get when you bring a group of Chicago musicians of all genres together with no set playlist? Spontaneous combustion? Nope – rapid fire composition! Tomorrow night a new musical showcase launches at Katerina’s on Chicago’s North Side. The Composers Studio will feature interviews with female musicians, but the audience will play a key role as well. They’ll throw out their ideas. Then just like any improv show the musicians will create a composition on the spot. We decided to do a version of the event right here. Throughout today’s show you’ve been hearing the music of Jeannie Tanner and June Shellene. Before they do some spontaneous composing, they share details about the showcase.
