A new report out Tuesday provides a detailed view of safety at Chicago Public Schools. University of Chicago researchers wanted to know what contributes to a student or teacher’s sense of safety in the school. A big factor that “Student and Teacher Safety in Chicago Public Schools: The Roles of Community Context and School Social Organization” points to is the relationships going on inside school walls. Elaine Allensworth of the University of Chicago’s Consortium on Chicago School Research is one of the report’s authors. She joined Alison Cuddy to discuss the findings.
