New York’s Balkan Beat Box is a frenetic ensemble that mixes Balkan melodies with Middle Eastern sounds and electronics and the result always fills up a dance floor. Their appearance this past June at Chicago’s Empty Bottle was no exception and Radio M was there rolling tape. Balkan Beat Box is tonight’s From the Stage. Also, 23-year-old New Mexico native Zach Condon ditches the Balkan sounds that were part of his last album, but retains a sense of meloncholy and whimsy on his latest, The Flying Club Cup. This time out he pays homage to France. He checks in with host Tony Sarabia to talk about he new release.
