Body image can be a lifelong battle for men and women. The struggle with weight and how to define beauty can start in childhood…and that self-image can stick with a person through adulthood. A new documentary play takes on some of the issues that drive us to question our own beauty. Playwright Danielle Pinnock interviewed more than 300 people and started each interview with the same question: “How do you define beauty?” She turned those interviews into a series of characters for her one-woman show Body/Courage. It’s about what drives people to their answer, how the body provides us strength, and can it can fail us. Pinnock’s been workshopping the play and now it’s gearing up for its Chicago premiere in January.(Danielle Pinnock)
