The Chicago White Sox take on the Detroit Tigers in the team’s home opener on Friday. For those of you who were looking forward to an Ozzie-free Opening Day after eight crazy seasons of managerial madness—so sorry. After all, he did once say, “[I’m] the Charlie Sheen of baseball without the drugs and a prostitute.”

Chicago reporters were accustomed to Ozzie’s wild way with words but who could’ve predicted what Ozzie would say during the early days of his new job as manager of the Miami Marlins. Last week, Ozzie told Time magazine, “I love Fidel Castro,” adding, “You know why? A lot of people have wanted to kill Fidel Castro for the last 60 years, but that mother------ is still there.”

Miami is home of course home to the largest Cuban-American population in the country—and more recently, the section of the city known as Little Havana became home to the Miami Marlins.

Well, Chicago Sun-Times columnist Rick Morrissey may not have predicted the precise Castro comment but he did warn that Ozzie’s first year would be a wild one in his soon-to-be-released book, Ozzie’s School of Management: Lessons from the Dugout, the Clubhouse and the Doghouse. In fact, on page 243, Morrissey writes, “A few other givens as Ozzie rolls forward…A person or group will feel insulted by something Guillen says. The mayor of Miami. Marine biologists. Cuban Americans. Somebody.”
