Prosecutors call the Hobos a “new breed” of gang—bringing together members of gangs that had been rivals—and unusually violent. Court filings tie the Hobos to nine murders, more than a dozen shootings, a kidnapping, and multiple robberies over a nine year period. The murder charges include two people allegedly killed for cooperating with law-enforcement; one was the brother of an alleged Hobo leader. Prosecutors also say gang members broke into the home of a suspected drug dealer and tortured victims with a hot iron. And that they threatened a cop inside a courthouse.
