Community, faith and labor groups hope thousands will show up for a planned “resistance” rally in downtown Chicago before President-elect Donald Trump takes office.

It’s one of several scheduled to take place on January 14th in cities throughout the country, including Washington D.C., Los Angeles and New York City.

The Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights is organizing the Chicago demonstration, where it will unveil what it calls a “Platform for Resistance,” calling on local, state and federal officials to resist mass deportations, Islamophobic policies and to support labor-friendly measures.
