At last week’s Paper Machete, Chicago’s Michael Patrick Thornton recapped a live announcement made by The Lyric Opera made about their first ever Creative Consultant position, to be filled by opera star Renée Fleming. Thornton delivered a perhaps uncomfortably detailed play-by-play of the event, zeroing in on the discomfort of Lyric Opera’s creative staff.
