Parents in Asia using modern technology to choose boys over girls

Modern technology, with ultrasound and pre-natal screening, makes it easier for parents to selectively terminate a pregnancy based on gender.  In countries like China and India, but also in places like Vietnam, Korea, Georgia, and Albania, sex selection is on the rise.

Mara Hvistendahl is the Beijing-based correspondent for Science magazine and author of Unnatural Selection: Choosing Boys Over Girls and the Consequences of a World Full of Men. She explains why this phenomenon seems to be growing and explores the implications of widespread gender imbalance.
