Pete Rock & CL Smooth is by far one of the most influential Hip Hop groups from 1990’s. The duo hails from Mount Vernon in New York. They released their first album “All Souled Out” in ‘91. They followed that with ‘92’s classic Hip Hop album “Mecca and the Soul Brother”. Pete Rock’s soul beats coupled with CL Smooth’s conscious lyrics set the standard for what East Coast Hip Hop sounded like. After the release of ‘94 album The Main Ingredient, Pete Rock and CL Smooth disbanded. While they occasionally gave concerts and worked on several projects, they never recorded another Pete Rock & CL Smooth album. Recently they reunited for a show at The Shrine in Chicago.
