Chicago welcomed a new mayor into office on Monday for the first time in 22 years.  Thousands gathered at Millennium Park in downtown Chicago to witness the swearing in of Rahm Emanuel as leader of America’s third largest city.

Among those on hand was our WBEZ colleague Adnan Rashid, one of 14 Pakistani journalists selected to participate in a U.S.-Pakistan journalist exchange program through the International Center for Journalists.

This marks his first visit to the United States, and his first encounter with American political pomp and circumstance.
