Mani Kongo, King of a rural area of the Bakongo, travels to Belgium in search of his daughter with whom he has not been in contact for a long time. As he negotiates traveling from a rural area in the Congo, to Kinshasa and then Brussels, we learn about issues of identity and experiences of prejudice in a European society.

Pieces of Identity is part of the Center for Black Diaspora’s Winter Quarter film series “Cinema: Transnational Subjects, African & Black Diaspora Immigrant Experiences”. The films cover a wide scope of discussion on the Diaspora in little known places like Iran, as well as the migration to places in Europe and the Americas.
