Authors Cait Murphy, Richard Roeper, Jonathan Eig, and Rick Kogan engage in a lively discussion about the hopes and heartbreaks of Chicago’s favorite sport: baseball! 

Cait Murphy is the author of Crazy ‘08: How a Cast of Cranks, Rogues, Boneheads, and Magnates Created the Greatest Year in Baseball History and an assistant managing editor at Fortune magazine in New York. A former Little League infielder, Murphy played softball at Amherst College, where she received her degree in American Studies. She does not throw like a girl.

Richard Roeper is the author of Sox and the City: A Fan’s Love Affair with the White Sox from the Heartbreak of ‘67 to the Wizards of Oz and is a daily columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times. He is the author of three books on movies and two books on urban legends. His sixth book, about being a lifelong White Sox fan, was published in the summer of 2006.

Jonathan Eig is the author of Luckiest Man: The Life and Death of Lou Gehrig and is a senior special writer for The Wall Street Journal based in Chicago. He was formerly executive editor of Chicago magazine.

…and Rick Kogan is the author of Chicago Tavern: A Goat, a Curse, and the American Dream.  Rick began his career at sixteen, working for the Chicago Sun-Times during the tumultuous Democratic Convention of 1968. He is currently senior staff writer and columnist for the Chicago Tribune Sunday Magazine and host of the popular WGN-AM Sunday Papers radio program.
