Contratiempo literary center presents Poesía en Abril, celebrating Poetry Month and the booming Spanish language poetry scene in Chicago. More than twenty poets from Pilsen, Chicago to Venezuela and the Dominican Republic, participate in the festival. On this benefit jazz and poetry night at Green Dolphin Street, sixteen local poets originally from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Uruguay, and Argentina and brought together by contratiempo literary center’s creative writing workshops, present a tribute performance to Mario Benedetti, the Uruguayan literary legend who died last year, followed by a jazz set by Darwin Noguera and his Latin Jazz ensemble, CALJE.
