Until three years ago, little of Naval Station Great Lakes’ modern architectural heritage was known until Navy officials announced plans to demolish two significant mid-century buildings by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill.  Lisa DiChiera discusses the fate of these two under-recognized modernist buildings and what measures are being taken to identify other potentially significant modernist buildings on the base.
