Over the past week, Eight Forty-Eight previewed a couple of personal stories from WBEZ’s upcoming series, Out of the Shadows. The project focuses on the state of mental health resources for children in Illinois. Beginning Monday, the series looks at how budget cuts and increased demand have a negative impact on access to care—and who’s stepping in to pick up the slack.

To learn more about the impetus for the project and the stories to come, Eight Forty-Eight spoke to the series’ lead producer and editor –WBEZ’s Aurora Aguilar.
