Chicago Public Schools will hold hearings just about every night this week on a slate of schools the district wants to close or phase out. School closings are controversial every year. And this year has been no different—but there have been some new twists to the controversy. WBEZ’s education reporter Linda Lutton and Sarah Karp—deputy editor of Catalyst Chicago joined Eight Forty-Eight to fill listeners in on recent developments. And Pastor Christopher Harris, chairman of the Bronzeville Community Action Coucil, told Eight Forty-Eight why he believes there should be a moratorium on school closings.
