PRX.org launches new website
PRX.org just launched‚ a new version of its website and it is super swanky. What is PRX? It's the Public Radio Exchange, a non-profit online marketplace for radio producers, public radio stations (like us)‚ and listeners (you!). It's a distribution hub for audio producers, large and small, to get their work heard by audiences‚ and receive royalties in return for their hard work. Anyone can post their audio. They have a free membership and a paid membership with greater benefits. The new version of PRX.org has this cool feature where you can create playlists and share them. You can check out what other people are listening to by loading their playlists. My favorite new part of the site is the pumping up of their social networking. On your profile you can post what talents or experience you have and producers and stations can search this HUGE pool of people for help editing, voicing or producing. Here is a great way for listeners to use PRX. Our Sunday Special last week was "The Clash: Revolution Rock". I got several emails this morning from folks wanting to hear it again. We do not have the rights to store or podcast this program, but if you want to hear it you can find it on PRX right here. Instead of trolling YouTube for cats getting spanked, why not spend some time listening to some amazing audio? You won't be disappointed. Here's a little video explainer of how PRX works.
