City Council members are coming out in support of a Chicago casino, but Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is questioning their position.

Aldermen approved a resolution at the city council meeting Thursday that calls for revenue from the possible casino to fund infrastructure projects. Quinn said he doubts aldermen have actually read the bill.

“This is the same city council that approved a parking meter proposal. I live in Chicago, on the West Side there, and I don’t think my neighbors are very happy with a 75 year old parking disaster,” Quinn said.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel has said the Chicago casino would boost the city’s economy. He has promised the funds from the casino would create jobs and fund needed infrastructure projects, like his fellow city council members are touting. But Governor Quinn has said the mayor should hold off from making plans, as the bill has yet to reach his desk.
