Quinn Withholding Judgement in U of I Scandal

Trustee Lawrence Eppley stepped down late Tuesday. He's been a central figure in the scandal involving politically connected applicants who were given preferential treatment.

But Quinn says he's withholding judgment until a state panel presents its findings.

QUINN: I know I'm going to get the report very shortly, and I'll read it carefully.  And as governor I have responsibilities, and as soon as I get the report I'll act accordingly.

The governor has the power to appoint - and remove - trustees of state universities. Two former U of I presidents and the head of a state panel investigating the matter have also called for trustees to resign.
