Re-Thinking Soup features Kambale Musavuli, who will share with us the role of “conflict minerals” in our daily lives, how it is connected to us in America, and what we can do to address the greatest humanitarian crisis in the world today, the conflict in the Congo. Kambale Musavuli is a native of the Democratic Republic of Congo, a human rights activist, and student coordinator and national spokesperson for the Friends of the Congo.

The event will explore the role that the United States and its allies, Rwanda and Uganda, have played in triggering the greatest humanitarian crisis at the dawn of the 21st century. It will also share concrete ways on how you can help bring an end to this conflict.

CONFLICT SOUP features a delicious bowl of soup from a country, area, or region that the United States is in conflict with—literally or figuratively, such as Afghanistan, Libya, North Korea, Cuba, or a community closer to home. We will also have conversations about critical socio-political issues like juvenile justice and the continually increasing prison population. During this hour, a speaker will present a concise and engaging history of the conflict and offer alternative and innovative peaceful solutions.
