Illinois’ redistricting process lurched forward Friday as Governor Pat Quinn signed into law a new map of congressional districts for the 2012 elections. His action is expected to spur lawsuits from groups opposing the map, particularly Republicans.
The process was tough for the GOP - Democrats controlled the redistricting from start to finish. They customized a map that shoves freshmen Republican congressmen into Democrat-friendly territory. That could make it more difficult for them to win re-election.
