The Neighborhood Writing Alliance (NWA) is excited to announce “Testify,” the fall 2011 issue of the Journal of Ordinary Thought. This issue features prose and poetry on the theme of “Creative Resistance: Art and Activism” and an introduction by Arlene Goldbard, cultural activist and author of New Creative Community: The Art of Cultural Development. The issue also includes images of quilts created by the Fiber Artists for Hope from their exhibit “The Unspoken Truth About Racism: A Dialogue in Art Quilts.”

NWA programming represents the richness, complexity, and the diversity of the Chicago arts and literary community. NWA provides ongoing opportunities for adults in Chicago’s underserved neighborhoods to engage in the literary arts through free weekly writing workshops, the quarterly publication of the Journal of Ordinary Thought (JOT), and public readings and events.

Recorded Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Access Living.
