To anyone who’s ever squirmed in a church pew or dozed off during a dull sermon, recent news that Americans are losing their religion comes as no surprise. A study by the Pew Forum found that nearly half of American adults have left behind their childhood faith. And a quarter of adults under 30 say they don’t affiliate with any religion at all. But in Chicago, some congregations are finding a reason to be more optimistic. For Chicago Public Radio, Monique Parsons has this report.
