Rep. Danny Davis’ Teen Grandson Shot Dead In Englewood

The grandson of Illinois U.S. Rep. Danny Davis has died after being shot and killed in a home invasion in Chicago.

Chicago Police say a 15-year-old male died Friday night at the scene in the Englewood neighborhood on the city's South Side.

Davis said that the 15-year-old was his grandson Javon Wilson.

Davis said a 17-year-old girl and 15-year-old boy forced their way into Wilson’s Englewood home.

After an argument, the 15-year-old shot Wilson in the head. Davis said Wilson's mother was not home, but Wilson's uncle and three siblings were.

A report from the Chicago Police Department says “This was not a random act and the offenders were known to the victim.”

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said that police have a "good lead" but no one was arrested. He said the killing was the result of a dispute over gym shoes.
